In Times to Come Series is here!
Book One of my latest series was officially released today:
Displaced is the first book in my new In Times to Come Series, launched in April 2022. Like my previous post-apocalyptic and dystopian works, this is a story of survival action and adventure in a setting where technology has failed or has been disrupted and law and order have collapsed. The main difference is that in this story the central protagonist is also lost in time, arriving by accident in a near-future America he couldn’t have imagined when he set out for a hike in 2012.

The In Times to Come series begins in New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness, a place I have explored many times over the years and continue to find myself drawn to as often as I can get there. The Gila is truly a vast roadless wilderness with rugged mountains, seldom visited canyons and countless remote caves and caverns. The idea for this story came from my own discovery of forgotten artifacts and relics in one of those hidden caves, and as the series progresses, I intend to write a nonfiction account of that particular backpacking trip for those who are interested.
The Time Travel genre has always been one of my favorites, especially when it is mixed with exploration, survival and raw backcountry adventure. The works of Edgar Rice Burroughs in particular held my fascination as a young reader, and no doubt inspired many of the adventures I undertook in the islands, jungles and mountains when I was old enough to set out on my own.
The second and third episodes of the In Times to Come series are planned for later this year, with Book Two: Destiny scheduled for release in October.
A glitch in time and a one-way trip…
Back from his final deployment with the U.S. Marines, Alan Carson is hiking across New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness to ponder his future and put the war in his past.
When his best friend and squad leader, Sergeant Kurt Timms, took a Taliban bullet because of bad intel, Alan made a promise to his dying friend. He would come here to see the rugged mountains that were Kurt’s boyhood stomping grounds, even if the horseback hunting trip the two of them had planned would never come to pass.
After paying his respects to Kurt’s wife and daughter at the ranch his buddy had called home, Alan loads his pack for a week and heads into the Gila, finding all the splendor and solitude of which Kurt so often raved. But deep in a trackless canyon, miles from any trail, Alan finds something else: The body of a dead man at the foot of a cliff… an ancient cave dwelling in the rock face above… and a mysterious passageway too intriguing to ignore.
Alan Carson has come to the West to contemplate the next chapter of his life, but the future into which he emerges is beyond imagination; and the world he’d known before is changed beyond recognition. Can he ever come to grips with this new reality he must face? Can he ever return to the life he knows and understands?
Displaced is Book One of the Times to Come Series: a story of survival and courage in a near-future dystopian nightmare.
Site Update
Welcome to my new and easier to navigate website! After ten years of dealing with WordPress issues, updates and required plugins just to achieve basic functionality, I’ve decided to ditch the self-hosted WordPress option entirely. If you’ve tried to visit the site lately and found it down or impossibly slow to load, those were just some of the problems. It got to the point that I barely posted anything, simply because it was too much hassle to deal with. As a full-time author of books, I’ve scaled way back on such things as blogging and website article writing anyway. My readers are always waiting for the next book, so the less time I have to spend maintaining websites and blogs, the more time I have to create stories. With that said, I do have plans to add lots of new stuff here that I think my readers will find of interest, but only when it doesn’t interfere with the production of books. As it stands now, the main purpose of this site is to provide a complete index of all my published work, in all the formats in which it is available, so that you the reader, can find what you’re looking for.

At the top of the page, you will find a simple site navigation menu with drop-down links to all my books by series and category. There is a new, separate page just for audiobook editions, as well as a page for some of the series books that have been bundled together in boxed sets or collections. On those specific pages, you’ll find the cover images and descriptions for the titles, as well as link buttons to take you to each book’s product pages on Amazon and the other retailers where the various editions are sold.
There’s a Latest Release section with a drop-down menu taking you to the most Recent Release page and to the Coming Soon, where you’ll find my works in progress and on preorder. Under the About tab, another dropdown takes you to my version of an “about the author” page, where I give you a little of my background. I’ve also added a new slideshow gallery there, with photos from many of my past adventures and travels that. have shaped both my fiction and nonfiction over the years. Under that same About tab, you will also find the Contact page and the Newsletter Signup page. Don’t hesitate to get in touch, and thanks again for stopping by to find out more!
Alliances Audiobook is Live!
The Feral Nation Series audiobooks are now up to date with the release of Book 9 earlier today. Now that the audiobook production for the series caught up until I complete and release Book 10 in a couple of months, my narrator is working on one of my older, standalone novels called Sailing the Apocalypse. If you haven’t read that book, it free in Kindle Unlimited, so be sure to check it out now. It’s something different from my current work, but still one of my favorite stories that I plan to expand into a trilogy or short series when time permits. You can find out more about it right here on its own page on this website: Sailing the Apocalypse
In other news, I also received word from the publisher of the The Pulse and The Darkness After that those two first in series titles will soon be scheduled for audiobook production. If that goes ahead as planned, look for the sequels to both of those to follow sometime thereafter.
