Buy the plans and build your own Backwoods Drifter...
This is a relatively easy boat to build, even for those with no boatbuilding experience.
The Backwoods Drifter is built in the stitch and glue method using plywood and epoxy.
The building plans include the offsets for layout and measurement of the panels, and
step-by-step instructions for the assembly process. Depending on materials used this
boat can be built for as little as $400.00. Time to build is estimated at about 60 hours,
again, depending on experience.
The plan package price is $39.00, plus. $3.85 Priority Mail shipping and handling. This
includes all information needed to build the boat, and email support direct from me to
answer any questions or assist with problems during the building.
Update: Posted March 5, 2006
The plans package is still in
development and is almost ready
to offer for sale. Due to Hurricane
Katrina other projects relegated
this to the back-burner for a time,
but now I am actively working on
this project and expect to have the
finished product ready to
distribute soon.
Rather than a simple set of plans,
this will be a complete book on
building this boat, with black and
white photos and step-by-step
instructions for all the major parts
of the building project.
The plan book is in draft form now
if anyone is ready to begin building
the boat. I can provide a printed
copy of the draft pages at this
point.

questions about the plans or the
status of the book.
